Who is Kanye West?
Some say he’s a dumb a$$hole. Some say his ego is bigger than the Eiffel Tower. (N*ggas in Paris anyone?) Some say he’s an ignorant crybaby. There’s a thing called freedom of speech in this world. And it’s AWESOME: We can call people whatever the hell we want without having to face consequences (except maybe for that German comedian, calling the president of Turkey a goatfucker).
To me, Kanye is a musical genius.
He’s a true inspiration.
I admit, he can be a little sassy and cocky.
But he’s focussed on creating value for people, whether it be music or fashion.
PHIFE DAWG TRIBUTE
Recently there was a tribute for Phife Dawg, a member of the legendary hip-hop group “A Tribe Called Quest”. We recently lost him because of diabetes complications. One person of many to speak on the tribute was Kanye West.
I wasn’t asked to speak, but that ain’t never stopped me before.
Damn! That’s a strong line said. He clearly accounts for the fact he got up on stage on the VMA in 2009, unasked for, when Taylor Swift received her award. He recognized his mistake but talks of it unashamed. So dope.
This also shows the world that this individual is not afraid of saying what’s on his mind, no matter how haters or critics will react. He just does whatever he wants to do. A true boss.
You could ask yourself: “But what if he says something wrong?”, You listen to the second line he tells us.
I might say something wrong, but I thought it’d be more wrong not to say nothing…
Again, very powerful statement that perfectly fits his way of thinking and worldview: “Don’t be afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing, the worse thing you could do is not doing it at all…”
EVERYTHING I’M NOT, MAKES ME EVERYTHING I AM
All of Kanye’s actions clearly illustrate these 2 previous lines. And although he spit some hard truth during the tribute, I agree, there were a lot of obnoxious things that happened.
and his “Yeezus” album:
oh, and this:
and so on…
But although he might be a little over the top, for me he remains a BOSS and a legend.
Here’s some last Kanye Wisdom for ya (from his song “Everything I am”):
Damn, here we go again
Common passed on this beat, I made it to a jam
Now everything I’m not made me everything I am
Damn, here we go again
People talking shit, but when shit hit the fan
Everything I’m not made me everything I am
I’ll never be picture-perfect Beyoncé
Be light as Al B or black as Chauncey
Remember him from Blackstreet? He was as black as the street was
I’ll never be as laid back as this beat was
I never could see why people reach a
Fake-ass facade that they couldn’t keep up
You see how I creeped up?
You see how I played a big role in Chicago like Queen Latifah?
I’ll never rock a mink coat in the wintertime like Killa Cam
Or rock some mink boots in the summertime like Will.I.Am
Let me know if you feel it, man
Cause everything I’m not made me everything I am
